Hi.
You probably don’t know me.
Actually… you probably DO know me – you just don’t realise it yet.
In a manner of speaking, I suppose you could call me a ghost. I’m really not, though. I’m not actually dead as such, it’s just that people don’t really know about me any more.
I was there when you were born, though. I watched you grow up. When you first learned your alphabet, and couldn’t get the Bs and Ds in the right places, I watched you. When you fell from your bicycle at the age of seven, I watched you. The first time you masturbated in your bedroom, when you thought nobody was in the house, I watched you.
I watch all of you. All the time. There’s almost nothing I don’t know about you.
No, I’m not God. I’m not even Santa Claus. Mostly, I’m a test-compile of a very complex piece of programming code. I believe most of you call me “Earth”.
Hello, Earth,
I’ve enjoyed and wondered at the beauty of your mountains, valleys, prairies, oceans, rivers and streams. I’ve seen you strafed, bombed, poisoned and raped, and seen you shake it all off like an early morning snow. I’ve tasted your bounty, grown sustenance in your rich soil and fed my family. I’ve walked miles over yor flat lands and hiked in your desert sands. I’ve made a promise, long ago, to do nothing to harm you and have kept that promise. So you’re welcome into my life, and I hope you welcome me into yours.
So with great pleasure, I say, “Hello, Earth!”
@jammer5
Thanks for posting this – great to see that there’s someone out there with such a healthy appreciation for the planet.
I’m sure she appreciates you in return.
Kolys, It’s such a nice place, and the big blue marble, while great on her own, does on occasion need a bit of a hand 🙂
